Is it possible to repair the network hardware in an iPhone 3G?

Broadcasting Wifi Networks?

• At my university accommodation we're only supplied with LAN (Ethernet). However in addition to my laptop I have an iPhone 4(The 3G is terrible where we are unfortunately) and an Ipad 2 (Wifi only) that need internet connectivity. I downloaded a program called Connectify, to resolve this problem and broadcast a wifi network. However I'm assuming my laptop hasn't got the necessary built in hardware to broadcast a wifi network, because it didn't work. Now my question is, if I get a router, and plug in the LAN cable, will everything work fine? (How do you set the password for the wifi etc? In addition can you broadcast networks with laptop wifi dongles? I just basically want to broadcast a wifi network in the most cheapest and easiest way.

  There is a way to share your Ethernet connection from your laptop assuming it has a wireless adapter built in (which is almost certainly the case). You have to set up an ad-hoc WiFi network and then enable Internet Connection Sharing. But even though it's possible it's not the best way to do it. There are security and stability problems and, if your laptop goes to sleep or you shut it down, your WiFi goes away. So the best, most satisfying way is with a router. When you get the router it will include a setup disc and with that you can set the password and everything else.
