[Wireless g vs. Wireless n] What type of modem should I buy?
-
I currently use a modem that supports wireless g. I am having trouble getting the connect to reach certain places in my house. Given that a modem that supports all 3 wireless types (b/g/n), would the wireless coverage improve whilst maintaining current wireless speeds.

Answer:
Generally, the performance will be somewhat better with n. To fully achieve this with the most benefit to capacity and range, the wireless modem should be configured to operate in n mode only -- not in b/g/n compatibility mode. This will require that all devices that connect to the modem via wifi are able to operate in n mode.

Other answers
n will give you the best range and connection quality, but not all older wireless hardware can receive an n signal. Just make sure your wireless cards support it or you'll be stuck with b or g.
