Yahoo messenger not connecting under proxy server?

  • I am having three PC out of that 1st PC is directly connected with cable modem with Win2000 & FreeProxy loaded on it,2nd PC's OS is win2000 which is sharing net connection with 1st PC & 3rd PC was also with WIN2000 & using net throu freeproxy & I was using msn & yahoo messenger on all 3 PC but yesterday I installed WIN-Xp with Ser.Pack 2 on PC no.3 now I am having problem in yahoo messenger I am not getting connection into messenger with new OS but windows live messenger is working perfectly on that same PC so please suggest me any changes to make on main server free proxy or PC having winXP.

    Did you check the WinXP firewall settings, or just disable it? Your proxy settings, IP, etc, could have been removed as well due to the upgrade. If none of this works then check your router settings and any packet filtering you may have on it?

I'm not sure, but it sounds like you are using more than one proxy server? Ifyou are - you only need one! Run it on the machine of your choice and connect the others through it. On the exceptions list for the XP firewall make sure your messanger programs are permitted to talk.

I have been having problems with the yahoo messenger 8.0 program. It won't connect. I deleted and reinstalled the 7.0 and it works, for now. Yahoo is really screwed up right now. It might have something to do with the MSN and Yahoo integration going on now.
