How To Find Out Mobile No Owner?

How do i select/find/search all files of a specific user on a W2K-server? (detail 'Owner' is not to be found)

  • Is there an option to search for the property 'owner'? (I know there isn't in the normal search command, but maybe there are utilities or DOS-commands?) Next to the employees personal folders, there are also folders in which everybody (or groups) can store files. (I could find one result with Google/Yahoo, but that's for Linux.) Please do not post other advice, like 'reset owner properties' and the like. That doesn't help. Also, pretty please do not post things like 'try this forum' or 'that website'. Previously, i got this answer: "1. Use the standard Windows Search and search for *.* on the server. 2. In the search Windows click on View and select details 3. Right-click on the Name header to display the field-list menu. 4. Click on the "Owner" option A column will be added displaying the owner of each file found. You can sort by owner." But, unfortunately, there IS no column 'Owner' available! (only these: name, in-folder, relevance, type, size, modified)

feck, I don't have a win2k server any more to test; we upgraded to 2003 a while ago. and both 2003 and XP (client) shows the 'owner' field like described in your previous answer. The is a tool in the windows 2000 resource kit that will allow you to see/modify ownership, but I will have to link you to it despite your wishes: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e8ba3e56-d8fe-4a91-93cf-ed6985e3927b&displaylang=en (hey, at least its an official MS page) From that page: Displays security information associated with files, registry keys, or services. This information includes owner, group, permission access control list (ACL), discretionary ACL (DACL), and system ACL (SACL). there is a download link there.
