How do I unblock myspace?

  • I'm 18 and have a myspace, I think my father blocked it using his computer. I don't really get how our computers are connected, but he can do whatever he wants with mine, and is able to control all the sites I go to with his computer. well he blocked myspace I think, I'm not positive. I've been trying to go to it for the past couple weeks and an "error" page pops up. then I discovered uk.myspace.com that worked for a couple days then started to give me an error page. so lately I've been using proxies, I'm scared I'll get hacked though. I've tried going on to his computer and unblocking it while he's at work, but I can't find where to unblock it from... any ideas?

    First off, it's a little silly for an 18-yr old to be under those tight restrictions. That's certainly old enough to have an adult-to-adult talk with your father, unless something else is going on. Like trust issues. Here's the obvious easy way to check, but there is probably some sort of parental control software that is in use. You'd have to know what it was then search for a way to see if it can be unblocked. The best way is to work it out with your dad. the obvious if you have ie: Open Internet Explorer, select "Tools", "Internet Options". Click the "Security" tab and choose "Restricted Sites". The "Sites" button will become available. Be sure that Myspace is not listed, if it is highlight and delete it. Otherwise, you'll just have to keep using online proxies and delete your cookies & browsing history afterwards.

Take it up with your dad. How are you scared that you'll "get hacked" by using proxies? Do you even know how proxies work? The notion of "getting hacked" by using a proxy is absurd. Your dad is using some sort of remote administration tool. If you really are 18 (which I doubt), there's probably some reason your dad doesn't trust you online. Talk to him about it. OR you can grow up, get out there, get your own place with your own Internet, and surf as you please. Worrying about getting on Myspace at daddy's house is a little ridiculous for an 18-year-old, don't you think? Discuss it with your father. That's your only remedy. Don't use proxies, because your dad WILL find out, and the restrictions will only get tighter. Talk with him about why you're restricted in the first place, being 18 and all...

Well, I would respect your dad. It could be blocked through the "hosts" file. It could be blocked via a program like Terminator X. It could be blocked with a program like CyberPatrol or NetNanny. If this is a corporate or school network, your chances of unblocking are slim to none as most companies use a hardware device like R3000 or iPrism, which are controlled by the network administrator not the individual computers themselves. Your best bet is to ask your dad if it is a home computer.
