TIme Warner Internet HELP?

Why does my internet slow down at night? (I have Time Warner Cable)?

  • Hi, I have Time Warner Cable w Turbo Boost and I'm trying to solve my issue. My internet slows down a lot so much to the point when I try to test my internet it fails half ways. During the day it is fast and according to the test I get about average 22.53 dl and 1.93. But at night I get like from 1 to 3 mbps download and upload .01 -.03 or it just fails to do the upload. I have had about 3-5 people come to my house to try to fix it but they still haven't. Called the tech support more than 10-13 times and I am getting quite frustrated since no one can fix it and most of the time I use my internet at night. So I am wondering if any of you have Time Warner Cable and have had this problem before? If you did how did you fix it? Or can anyone here tell me what might be the problem? Please any help I would really appreciate it.

i used to have TWC and it was actually pretty reliable. first, to troubleshoot, you have to remove as many devices from the equation as possible. that means you should troubleshoot using one computer connected directly to the modem. No routers, no switches, nothing else. Then, find out what speedtest is local to where you are on the TWC network. For instance, i used to use this speed test: http://www.timewarnercable.com/hawaii/learn/hso/speedtest.html Your upload/download speed is ONLY guaranteed within the TWC network. Any location outside the TWC network (like speedtest.net) is not guaranteed by TWC and they'll balk at your findings. Anyway, once you've found your local speedtest site, run it. If you don't see the speeds you're expecting, and your computer is directly connected to the modem, try another computer/laptop and make sure you get the same problem on that. if TWO separate computers both have the same slowdown problem, the problem exists likely between your modem and the TWC network. if both directly connected to the modem are slow, then TWC is the problem and TWC has to fix it. If one runs fast and the other one runs slow, it's a problem with how one of the computers are configured because one will prove that the speeds are possible.

Because everyone is getting on at night and your internet bottlenecks. The only thing that you could do is call Time Warner and ask them to fix the bottleneck.
