How do I change my wireless password on Linksys router?

Wireless Linksys router password?

  • I got a second-hand Linksys wireless G router, and it has a password on it, so i can't connect to the internet on my laptop. Is there any way that I can change or delete the password without knowing it? Any information on the subject will be appreciated

    You can get the setup info and program at the Linksys website. Most Linksys routers can be reset by pressing in a recessed button on the back, with a pen nib or paperclip and the others have a hidden button that's behind a lighted logo on the front. Linksys routers usually come with the password as admin...

The default password for most routers is either "password" or "admin". If neither of those works, search the router for a small reset button. It will be very tiny, about the size of the head of a pin, and requires you to press it with the end of a paperclip or the tip of a pen or something. Hitting that switch will cause the router to reset to its initial factory configuration, then one of those two default passwords will work. The router needs to be plugged in for this to work, and you may have to hold the button for a few seconds.

Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds. This will reset the router to factory defaults including the default password of "admin". Go to the Linksys web site and download the user manual for your specific router for more information.

The password will be whatever the prevuious installer set on it. You will need to get a copy of the manual and then read it. Do a hard reset using the button on the back.
