How to connect to the internet using Linux?

Help connecting to internet on linux mint?

  • Ok so i have installed linux on a laptop and i'm trying to connect to the internet. I have a wireless network set up but i don't know how to connect to it. The laptop does have a wireless card but is it possible that its not compatible with linux or it has failed to install the driver for it? unfortunately i have no idea what the wireless card is. I am using linux mint 9. Please help i have no idea what i am doing!!!

welcome to the wonderful world of linux... i have yet to find a version/release which has drivers for all my equipment, and none which works w/ any of my wifi... especially on a laptop.
