OS: XP Media: 802.11b the computer says it is connected to the local LAN but it will not connect to the internet. usually you associate with the access point, log in on the ISP's web page, and then you have access to the internet. with this computer though, after you associate with the access point it doesnt bring up the ISP's log in page. Here is what I have tried: -disabling the firewall -ensured DHCP is being used -disabled all other NIC's -checked to make sure computer wasnt set to automatically use dial-up -checked to make sure WEP was disabled -PING'd www.yahoo.com, got nothing -PING'd 127.0.0.1, works fine all other computers on this network work fine. its just this one particular computer does not work. Could someone PALEASE tell me why this thing wont connect?

Answer:
Did you check your default gateway? It's worth a try.

If you're with Verizon, it might just be that you have the worst modem in existence. We only got the wired internet to work with one of our computers, and after running around with Verizon for almost a year, they told us it was the modem and there's nothing they can do about it. Wireless works great, though so if you have it, try setting that up instead. Good luck!

most likely it is a problem from the ISP's side. Sometimes their servers are down. Contact ISP

Oh my...way to complicated for me. Don't know what I was thinking. Good luck though. :()
Oops, I did it again...........
Do you know how to go to the ISP login page? Maybe it says you are logged in but have to log out and log in again to get it going...sometimes you end up staying 'logged in' but I think it expires or something...so when you go back to the computer you have to do it over again...of course, perhaps this is of no help to you...it's all the advice I have..

I have this problem all the time at my office. I have to shut down everything...the LAN and the Internet box. I unplug it all and let it sit for 2-4 minutes. Then after I plug it back and make everyone check to see if they have Internet. It someone doesn't I do it again. The most Ive ever had to do it was 3 times. I know its not the most intelligent answer but it works for me.
