How to connect ps3 to the internet via my laptop wirelessly ?

  • here is the thing, my knowledge of networking is really limited so i have this internet connection on my laptop and i want to share this connection to my ps3 and i have a Wlan usb stick i dont know if it will help or not....i do not want to use an ethernet cable. first i need to know how i can make that wlan usb stick provides wireless connection to the surrounding note i dont have a router and second how to make the ps3 receive that connection please be detailed with the answers because am not that good with networking thank you very much

  • Answer:

You could set up an ad-hoc connection on the laptop but be forewarned. You WILL lose a good percentage of speed through a wireless connection not to mention more loss through an ad-hoc connection. Unless you have some screaming internet service and some strong signal strength, you'll be connecting with a network cable anyway. The thought of gaming on the net through a wireless home network personally gags me.....

depending on your laptop, it can function as a router. go to the command prompt and type "netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid="your network name in quotes here" key=yourpasswordhere. then to start it, type netsh wlan start hostednetwork. to stop, type netsh wlan stop hostednetwork. hope i helped :)
