Can I boost my WiFi antenna for better signal strength?

Is there any kind of antenna I can get for my laptop to boost my wifi signal strength?

• Now first things first, I do NOT have a router. Again, I do not have a router. I only use the public networks that my computer picks up with wifi. Only the publics ones, I dont access any networks without authorization. Anyhow, the signal strength on the public networks I can pick up on isnt very strong and very often the internet doesnt work. I was wondering if there are any antennas out there that will boost the signal strength of the networks my computer picks up. Ive looked up wifi booster antennas but the only ones Ive found are only good if you have a router, which, I dont. Im just wondering if there are any antennas out there that will boost the signal strength on the wifi networks. Thanks
