How do you use another IP address?

How can i use two xboxes at the same time, connected to one main ip address? do I need two routers? a switch?

  • do i need to request a second ip from the internet service provider? I have a linksis WRT54GS (crap). They used to work at the same time. However, the NAT was strict. I had taken my modem and router to the phone company to have them bridged and it fixed the NAT settings, but now only one xbox will be signed in at a time. Each xbox has is own ip address. What do i need to do? Do I need to purchase another ip address? Do I need another router?

  • Answer:

You have to reference the IP address of your router.

Once you set up bridging, a lot of the NAT functionality is gone. I have never had to use bridging on anybody's machines. The problem is that using 2 machines to the same site means the site sees them coming from the same address. one answer is to have 2 public IP addresses, each one using a different router and one box on each. This is normally an expensive option, and still presents problems if both are on the same connection, you need careful configuration.
