The best IT certification for entry level.

Is there a more entry-level computer competency certification than A+ ?

  • I'm familiar with CompTIA A+ certification, but it's a bit out of my reach at this point. I'm not going into the IT field, but my career does necessitate extensive use of common programs. I was hoping there was a more basic, user-competency certification that would reduce all the resume verbiage of "Proficient in MS Office, Windows, Excel, Powerpoint, Word . . ." etc. to a single bullet point, universally understood.

  • Answer:

Sounds like a "Microsoft Office Specialist" certification: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/mos.aspx

If you are in UK you could try the ECDL (European Computer Driving License http://www.ecdl.com/ this covers the exact subjects you state. Then again I suppose it doesn't really matter which country you are in as you could do the studying on line or just download the course work.
