Why do my routers stop working? How long should they work?
-
This is my second router, a Cisco Linksys E4200, and it stops working, and like with my last router, I have to unplug it for approx 20 seconds before it will start working again. I bought this one about a year ago. It was working perfectly till now. Should they stop working so quickly?

Answer:
What makes you think it isn't your internet connection dropping in the first place? It takes a split second of disruption to upset your network. Once it does, your network hardware has to go through a connection process again. It may have nothing to do with your router.

You should try resetting your router to factory defaults before condemning it as done.
