How to install php5-fpm on Debian?

What would be the easiest way to install Debian alongside Ubuntu?

  • I'm trying to install Debian on my desktop alongside my current installation of Ubuntu 11.04. My hard disk only has my Ubuntu partition and a linux-swap partition. I have an install CD I made of Debian 6. Does Debian detect the Grub that is already installed with Ubuntu? If not will it detect the Ubuntu install when it installs it's own Grub? How would I make it easiest to switch between OSes?

  • Answer:

You are allowed to have 4 primary partitions per hard drive. Until you start using logical or extended drives. You can actually use one partition for the Debian and tell the setup to use the already existing swap file for Debian since you can only run one OS at a time unless you go virtual. Grub will automatically detect and add Debian since grub is already installed or to make sure, when it asks you about the boot loader, tell the setup to point to the primary partition.
