How To Share Ethernet Over Wi-Fi Without Creating Access Point?

Anyone can tell me how 2 connect my laptop to a wireless access point through its wireless LAN card?

  • my ISP gets the service via satellite , then redistribute service through wi-fi by an antenna that delivers the service to all the subscribers whome all have smaller antennas.. now...my antenna on the roof is connected to the wirelss access point (d-link DWL 2100 ) that in turn connect to the laptop through a cable to the internal ethernet card of the laptop..... all i want to do is to connect my laptop to the net through its WIRELESS LAN card so i can get a full coverage to my house ... i bought a wireless router but no one knew how to connect the three parts together ( the AP , the router and the laptop),,,, so pllllllllzzz can anyone tell me how to make such a connection.

  • Answer:

Connect the wireless router wan port to the cable coming from the dwl2100. Aint sure what you have for a router but it should have at least one ethernet port. Connect the laptop that was originally connected to the dwl2100 to the router lan port. You will need to run the internet connection wizard and select the connect thru lan on both PCs. You can also go one step further and run the networking wizard on both PCs to be able to swap files between the two PCs.

You should be able to connect an access point to the ISP connection using the LAN port in your case all you need is the access point not a router. I would contact your ISP and see what solutions they can provide.
