How can I get computer technician job and experience?

How to get a job with computer networking degree but no experience?

  • Well, i am studying computer networking at a university. i have a half a year left and will have an associates degree. but i am starting to do a little research as to what kind of jobs are out there. it seems like pretty much every employer wants experience and that certifications are a plus and some even require them. Is it important for me to work on my certifications after i finish? and if so which ones? is it really important to get the certs with no experience anyway? basically i am looking for a entry level position with decent pay to survive and gain experience. where and what should i look for? is it important to get the experience before the certs first? thanks

  • Answer:

Since you don't have any experience, certification can validate that you at least have studied the material and technology. Let's put it this way: If you have neither, I wouldn't expect you to get a good job. I would recommend getting certified, even without experience because they can open doors, show you are willing to learn new technology, and show you care about making an effort towards your education in the job field it relates to. Students have half-off Microsoft certifications, and other discounts you can find here: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/offers/student-career.aspx You can also take a little quiz to see what careers work with the different certification types here: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/start/start-career-student.aspx
