How do i change the ip address on my wireless laptop?

You cannot change the public IP address. to change the local IP address---- click on start..run..type cmd...click on ok type ipconfig /all and press enter write down the IP address subnet mast gateway address DNS1 DNS2 right click over my network places click on properties right click over local area connection click on properties. click "Internet protocal( TCP/IP)" from the list and click on properties. choose " Use the following IP: Here is where you change the local IP address. Bare in mind you have to stay in the same subnet/network. E.g: if the IP address you write down is 192.168.1.102 You can only change it to: 192.168.1.2 to 254 The rest of the information stays the same...subnet mask, gateway..and the 2 DNS. Good luck

Come on Sis, I would try getting your own Internet connection and then you should be able to log onto all the Internet sites you want. I am sure you know this is stealing. And you could get caught for it. Trying doing it the right way sweetie :)

let me tell u in a easy way ok if your connect has a network key u have to put in then look on trhe back of your router and before connect make sure the 1xx thing r whatever is not marked if it dont have on then u mark it

As long as you are connected to their network, changing your IP address won't help. You need to connect to a different network. If you just need to release and renew your ip address though, copy and paste this into Start > Run : ipconfig /release && ipconfig /renew Then click OK.

the ip addy is determined by your internet service provider (isp). since it is not your isp the short answer is no. the long answer is what you are doing is illegal and if the owner of the network ever catches on (which is very easy because EVERYTHING is logged in networks) you could be in trouble. furthermore, if this network owner is a hacker, they could potentially be putting out a 'free' (ie unlocked) signal, in order to gain access to your computer (which is pretty easy once you've logged on to their net).

nope u can't change the ip address b/c that's constant well one easy thing to do and pick up a internet connection easily is to go where there are a lot of computers with internet like library or something and i am sure ur laptop will automatically get a good signal on the internet

Depending on what IP address you are getting, and how the other person's wireless router is setup, you may or may not be able to change it. Some routers will only dish out DHCP, and won't allow static IP addresses. I'm not sure how this will help you get to a website, but if you need to change the WAN (external) IP address you are out of luck, that is something that can't normally be changed unless it is your account (if the provider will change it at all). You can find out your current IP by going to Start>Run>type cmd>enter>type ipconfig If you are getting 192.168.1.101 you can go to Start>Programs>Accessories>Communication… Connections Right click on your wireless connection>Properties>Highlight TCP/IP>Properties In here type 192.168.1.x for your IP address(not really x, but pick a different number between 2 and 254) 255.255.255.0 for Subnet Mask 192.168.1.1 for Default Gateway
