What are Wireless N and G?

What is the difference in N wireless to G wireless?

  • what is the difference in N wireless than G wireless?

  • Answer:

802.11n is faster and has a longer range than the older wireless standards. This standard can also operate on the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz spectrum (depending on the router). Running on the 5Ghz spectrum can eliminate a lot of interference caused by baby monitors, microwaves, etc... It has a theoretical speed (throughput) of 600Mbps, but in reality will be much slower, but faster than the G standard. If your looking to purchase a new wireless router I would go for the "N" standard unless it's a lot more money. With the MIMO feature "N" has, it will give you a longer range and help speed up large file transfers. In short, it is all around better :)
