How can one avoid losing all user workgroup settings when switching over to a domain?
-
A new user set up his computer, but mistakenly added it to a workgroup instead of a domain. Now we need to switch him over to the Novell domain, but it creates a different local user account and all settings change- even when logged on using the old user name & password. So basically now there are 2 different users on his PC- one for local & one for domain. How do we keep it as just one? Soon- the entire company will need to switch to a different Windows domain, and I'm afraid the same thing will happen again on every computer. What can we do?

Answer:
For a single user try the File and Settings transfer wizard in XP. You can insert a XP CD and under Other Options run the tool. Launch as the old account, backup. Come back in as new account, launch, restore. For a full domain migration there are other tools.
