What's fibre?

Whats the difference between cable (coaxial/fibre optics) and phone line broadband?

  • I know you can buy cable (fibre optic or coaxial) but whats the point in phone line broadband?

  • Answer:

you have a house with a phone? the phone lines are already there. Even now new houses are built with phone lines already installed (but not connected) Fibre optics + coax has to be laid , and this costs money. (and NO individual needs the full bandwidth of coax or cable)

Fibre optics work with light, so...speed of light. DSL works with a copper wire, signals through the wire. Fastest Cable ive seen 1000mb/s Connection speed. Fibre optic 30gb\s. Fibre optic cant bend.

Fibre optics are faster and give a better service, thatt's why B.T. are now laying them across the country .
