How do I turn off connection suggestions?

Why my wireless internet connection goes down on my apple computers?

  • OK This is my problem. I have a trendnet wireless router. I also have three apple computers (iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro) and one PC laptop (Compaq). The apple computers connect perfect to the wireless signal at home, and I can surf the internet with no problem at all. However if I stop to read an article from news, or anything long that stop me from surfing from few minutes, then the wireless connection is down (even the wireless bars showed full connection). Then I have to turn off and turn on the wireless at the computer and the connection come back. This only happen on the apple computers, and NOT on the PC laptop (which also has linux and does not have the problem either). Can anybody tell me what can I do. Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

  • Answer:

Which SSID are you using on your router? Is it the default SSID? Are there other routers nearby that have the same as your SSID? If so, change your SSID to something unique -- this is something that you really should do regardless. What is the DHCP lease timeout set to on your router? If it is very short, try setting it to be weeks or months -- or just disable lease timeout all together. Have your disabled IPv6 on your Macs? I don't think that that Trendnet router supports IPv6 and it may be dropping your connections from you Macs as a result. - Under "System Preferences", select "Network". - Select "Airport" out of the list on the left and unlock the configuration if necessary - Click the "Advanced" button and then select the "TCP/IP" tab - From the "TCP/IP" tab, find the "Configure IPv6" entry and select "Off" - Click the "OK" button and then the "Apply" button and then lock your configuration if necessary.
