It doesn't depend on the router. It depends on whether the adapter is suppored in Linux or not. If it's supported natively, you're good to go. If not, you may be stuck using ndiswrapper on it. Please mention what distribution you use and what the output of "iwconfig" yields. Then we'll be able to help you more.

It does not matter what type of router you have. It does matter on the Wireless adapter, most aren't compatible with linux, and only work with windows or mac os. Though there are some that do work with linux but is very limited. I couldn't give you a list or any help really because I don't know what distro./version you have.
