Belkin router - I'm totally lost.?
-
Okay, so I have this Belkin router. I have the install disk, too. I put it in my laptop, and ran the install disk. I am connected to the internet via my DSL modem. The router isn't hooked up yet because it said not to hook it up yet. So, I ran the disk and the first part of the "easy installation wizard" is the "Examine" part. It examined my computer and then said this: Easy Install has detected that you have more than one network adapter. Choose the adapter that you use to connect to the internet. If you are not sure which adapter to use, choose the first one on the list. You can change your choice later, if needed. Then it gives a box that I'm supposed to pick an adapter. Except, the box is empty. I can't choose anything. I can't click "next" because when I do, it gives an error message and says, "Please select the Network Card you use to connect to the internet." What do I do now?

Answer:
I am confused as to why you would need a disk for a belkin router. Are you sure that the disk isn't for ethernet to usb driver installation? I have set up many routers from Netgear and Linksys to Apple and Belkin. The Apple router needs a disk because it uses a application to configure the router. I remember the Netgear had a disk so that you could use the usb port but the actual configuration was through the web interface. Here is what I would try.... Plug up the router and connect it to the modem and connect your pc to the router. Open up a web browser (internet explorer, firefox, etc) type 192.168.2.1 in the address bar and hit enter. it will ask for a user name and password: if you have the Belking F5D6130 don't put anything for the user name and the password: MiniAP if you have the Belkin: F5D7150 leave the user name field blank and the password: admin there are several combinations to log in to a default router... user name: admin Password: admin User name: Admin Password: Admin User name: admin Password: password user name: user Password: user (or admin) User name: admin Password: User name: password Password: password Any way... once you get into the router there will be a wizard option somewhere.
