How to share files between two computers?

I have connected two computers to a single access point. How to share files between the two computers ?

    If you're running Windows, and already have file and printer sharing setup... simply right click on the folder that you wish to share and select "Sharing and Security" (windows xp)... then select "Share this folder on the network" then click apply and ok. That should allow the other machine on your network to see the shared folder. If you aren't on XP then post back and I'll help you with the specific operating system procedures...

If two computers are connected to a router, all you would need to do is run the networking tool in my network places on both computers. If they are connected to an access point alone, an access point does not assing ip address, therefore you would need to manually assing ip addresses which is a different question altogether.

You go to your network settings and in options connect home networking. You might need your computer to do a search for plug ins to recocgnise the other computer. You can do that in intall/remove icon.
