How to change brightness on Linux desktop through the command line?

Installed 11.04 Linux nd its not loading into the GUI !! Please Help!!?

  • Hello , I "upgraded" my Ubuntu Linux 10.10 from the System>Preferences>Update Manager to Ubuntu Linux 11.04 , and after everything downloaded and installed and after my computer restarted , It loaded into a COMMAND LINE , and i don't know anything about it , and my Previous or the NEW GUI also (desktop) is not coming!! its just loading into into a command prompt ...... Someone Please Help me to Get bak my GRAPHICAL User Interface / my old desktop ( ofcourse the new Linux Desktop ) !! Please Help Thanks in Advance!

    Try to start the desktop just enter "startx" without the quotes at the command line. If that doesn't work try these steps http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=159992
