Unable to connect to internet through a proxy?

• There are two networks, say A and B which is a part of two group companies A and B (A:A and B:B) I work for the grp company A, but sit in B's premises. I have my user profile created in A's domain. But since the I am governed by A's IT policies, I access internet only through A's proxy. So, I have configured A's DNS as a primary DNS in my TCP/IP properties and connect to A's proxy. The issue happens when I try to connect to A's proxy from a lenovo laptop running XP while I am able to connect to the same on a Dell machine running Win 7 (Exact same configuration including the hostname). I get HTTP 502 - Bad Gateway error. I have not tried Dell + XP or Lenovo + Win 7. What could be the reason? Any pointer appreciated.

  If I understand correctly you have changed your DNS settings but are still connecting to the internet through B's connection, and are therefore subject to B's filtering. What you need to do is set up a VPN to company A, so that all internet traffic is routed through their network and bypasses B's filter.
