How can I find out how many GBs I use a month on Internet?

Frequent loss of internet connection?

  • Recently, the internet connection issues are getting worse and worse. I often come home (once every week or two) and find that the internet does not work. The first clue is when the windows sidebar gadgets say "Information not available." I usually don't mind and brush it off as a temporary server issue. However it has become increasingly frequent and prolonged, often lasting more than a day. Now, internet connection has hit a dry-spell. I use telus internet, and for more than three days the internet connection has stopped working. I have been forced to use an unsecured network that has very poor connection, sometimes so bad that the website takes minutes to load. I have tried everything from resetting the IP address to plugging off the adapter and power cord for periods up to 10 minutes. Nothing seems to work very well. i have tried windows diagnose and repair, however it seems to be going in circles. after not being able to find the solution, it recommends a course of action that has already been taken. Once, it told us to contact the network administrator. I do not know what is going on but i pay for monthly internet service and i do not want to be paying $40.00 a month for an internet service that i can't even use! Can someone tell me what is wrong i don't know what to do anymore. internet is at about dial-up speed because i am using wi-fi with poor connection

  • Answer:

Try pinging the server and see if packets are being sent and received. My computer was sending but many packets were being lost. I called tech support several times. They brushed it off. Finally went over their heads to management. Turns out the internet provider had a bad board. If the packets are sent but not returned its them. Clicking on the little computer icons in the tray will tell you how many packets sent and recieved in the current session. Same symptoms as yours.
