How to get my taskbar back?

I don't know how it happened, but the taskbar at the top of my screen is missing. (File, View, Edit, etc.) I thought I'd done something to cause this taskbar to vanish but a website I found by accident, showed me that I'm not the only one to have this computer problem. The directions as to how to fix the problem, were clear as mud. I'd appreciate it if someone who knows for sure how to get the taskbar back, could assist me. Thank you in advance.

Try right-clicking in the menu area and see if you can find a drop-down menu, then select "Menu Bar."
