I need some help with Appserv/Apache?
-
So I run a gaming server with 2 other people in which we need a registration page and a server status page. The type of MySQL we are forced to use requires a past version of PHP, so I just downloaded the Appserv 2.5 installation or something of that, the important part is it had the version we needed. The problem is however, we have our MySQL working just fine and players can now connect through portforwarding, but I've had to set our website port to 8001. Again, I've portforwarded that, and I can view it via localhost, but not remotely like by my laptop. Here is my setup: We are renting a dedicated computer and have CentOS installed on it. It's got 4GB of ram and dual-core 3.01 GHz processing. I then installed VirtualBox along with Windows Server 2008 and get it setup. I then used IPTables (basically a firewall) to open ports 80, 3389 and 8001 (because 80 wouldn't work no matter what we did). In the virtualbox I portforwarded all three mentioned ports to the virtual OS. I can successfully use RDP, but when attempted to access the site using Chrome, I get the following error: "The connection to [insert IP here] was interrupted." I'm not sure whether the problem is through Windows or CentOS/IPTables, but it's gotta be through one of those. Can anyone help me out? (For those who don't know CentOS is a Linux distribution)

Answer:
What about the Windows 2008 Advanced Firewall settings. Check in there. You can write some inbound & outbound rules for port 8001. Normal ports are already allowed by default. You must allow custom/user defined ports. I might sound something silly/stupid. But it's worth trying it.
