Do you need a phone line to get the internet?
-
i've been told that i would have to pay £150 to install a phone line so i can get a connection to the internet. i think this is too much money especially because i'm a single parent and have other things to pay out for. Is there a way i can get the internet without having to pay out for a phone line?

Answer:
Well if they offer cable modem, that runs thru your cable tv lines, dsl and dial up run thru the phone lines.

Have you tried wireless Internet. With that you don't need an extra phone line.

If you cable is in your area, Virgin Media (exNTL) do a deal that does not require a BT phone line. If you get on with your neighbours, then they might be willing to share their internet with you through a router. If not, then it looks like you're going to have to pay to get a BT phone line, yes.

Virgin Media Cost £30 to be connected, and two months (£10 a month) in advance. 2meg broadband.... Works great for me...

Everyone has said the obvious. I will say the unknown. when you buy the wireless router, there sometimes is information in the settings that can lead you to a company that provides internet service directly to your wireless router via RF, you will have to research what ISP's provide this service in your area, this method requires no cable, no dsl, and no phone lines, if you do not have a wireless router, you can also get this service via a wireless pcmia card which you can purchase from a mobile phone company such as verizon wireless, assuming your computer is a laptop, otherwise you need a wireless router to recieve internet service, you dont need a Wifi card in your computer though, you can connect directly to the hub of the wireless router, and the wireless router would just recieve the signal, most people dont use this internet service, its somewhat rare.
um, I'm not sure. Internet runs off of the phone connection. or you could a wireless router. oh my brother lives with a few of his friends and they have Internet, but no phone (except cell phones). Their Internet connection looks for a close by connection and attaches itself onto it. best of luck to you.

T-Mobile do 3G broadband though a mobile phone! Just got it myself! Its a bit tricky to set up but its superb when its working! I was using T-Mobiles older version of mobile internet for the last year and that was ok too!

you really don't need a phone line ,try to get high speed internet connection ,if it cost too much for you tell them to make installments for you to pay that why you don't have to pay all the money at one time same with the phone.
