Answer:
The IP address from your ISP is assigned one of two ways: * Set to an IP address which is unchanged for months or years at a time. This is a static IP address. * Set to an IP which is only good for a limited time, and which is changed according to the policy set by your ISP's DHCP server. This is a dynamic IP address. Because a static IP can be relied on for an indefinite period, some networking software requires a static IP. ISPs usually charge extra for static IPs. Your ISP may not be willing to give their customers static IP addresses at all. Dynamic IPs are used in large networks where computers are frequently reconfigured, or where a limited number of IP address are available to share between many computers.

IP (Internet Protocol) is the unique address of each computer. when you are online u have one unique IP. you can see it by refering to the connection icon in your system tray. it is in the format of xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx each field could be from 0 to 255. eg yahoo IP is 87.248.113.14. if you enter it instead of www.yahoo.com it will be the same. If sb enters your IP in his browser and you have installed a web server they can be receive web files from your computer. a static IP is one that you have bought and is always yours (anytime you go online) a dynamic one changes once a while. eg yahoo IP is static (does not change) but ordinary users use dynamic IP (a static IP is no use to them)

IP address is the name tag of your computer when you are on the internet. It has 4 numbers separated by 3 dots. e.g. 67.2.3.45 static IP is a permanent name for the computer when you are on the internet. This name remains the same for months , days and years. Dynamic IP is the name which keeps on changing every time you access the internet.

well u would ahve got an idea about the IP a bit.. Regarding Static IP it is your physical IP of your comp. Whether you are connected to a network or not your IP remains the same. Dynamic IP is the one which keeps on changing whenever you connect thro a gateway say for instance in the dial up connections you IP remains static until you hit the gateway of the service provide and then the dynamically generated IP of the service provider will be your IP.

IP is an address to determine each computer on a network. IP address is a sequence of 12 integer numbers (0 - 9) divided in 4 groups by dots. like : 192.133.254.003 Static IP is a kind that is fixed, it never changes (usually in DSL and ADSL connections), but if you use a dial-up connection you receive different IPs from your ISP each time you are connected to the internet, this means Dynamic IP. To find your computers IP on the network you on, type the command "ipconfig" in command line (for windows). Start->Run-> type cmd and enter type ipconfig then you will see your IP address.
A Static IP is an address that doesn't change, most ISPs will provide this with Broadband accounts. A Static IP can also be setup on a network so that each computer is assigned a specific IP address to connect to the network. Dynamic IP changes, so for most dial-up accounts each time you connect you are assigned a different IP. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_address#Static_and_dynamic_IP_addresses The IP address mentioned on websites is giving you your Public IP.

A 32-bit IP address is an address that allows you put a computer on the Internet, or other type of Network. A Dynamic IP address is one that is handed out by a DHCP server easing configuration for host PC's on a given network. IE..if you have a cable/DSL connection w/ a Broadband router, the Broadband router is more then likely acting as a DHCP server on your network). A Static IP address is one that you manually configure on a PC or range of HOST pc's after devising some sort of IP addressing scheme. each Octet is 256 bits and the IP address is typically notated in dot.decimal like so: x.x.x.x where each X is a number from 0-255. 32-bit is the existing/older IPV4 standard, the IPV6 address scheme is 128-bits and has a few more octets. The current internet is still a few years away from widely adopting the IPv6 standard, currently most colleges and research stations utilize IPv6, as well as some European nations..
