How do I turn off connection suggestions?

How can I keep my router from dropping my internet connection?

  • I use Suddenlink high speed cable internet with a D-Link wireless N-router. I had the same trouble in the past; however, with Verizon DSL with a netgear wireless G router. The internet connection is dropped at least once a day, normally in the morning when I first turn my computer on. My computer can connect to the network, but it can't get the internet. It fixes itself if I reset the router, so I am guessing that is the problem. It happens on all three computers on our network. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to keep the router from dropping the internet connection?

  • Answer:

Usually updating your router's firmware will solve problems like that. Type 192.168.1.1 into your browser window to go into your router's setup. You can usually update the router from there. While you're in there, make sure there isn't any settings making the router go to sleep/idle when a connection isn't detected. Or go to http://support.dlink.com/downloads/ and get the files for your router there.
