How To Connect (Via DD-WRT) To A Device Known By Its MAC Address?

How can I determine the MAC address of a device connected to my Wi-Fi network?

  • There are people in my house whom I don't want to be able to use my internet connection. I already gave them the password since they asked for it and they are my relatives. Refusing to give them the password would be taken as something else. Now I want to secretly block them from using the network. I've already tried using a Linksys router and doing the MAC address trick but it doesn't work for the router I'm currently using which is a ZTE ZXV10 W300. It has the MAC filtering option but has no way to show a list of those devices connected to it. The Linksys router I've used before has this DHCP Client List which shows the information I want: Name of the device, its MAC address, and IP address. How can I do the same using my current setup? Is there a program that will be able to do what I want?

  • Answer:

You'll have to use some kind of network scanner. I suggest Advanced IP Scanner v1.5. It shows you the ip address, name, and mac address of the computers on your network.
