How do I change my WiFi SSID name and add a password?

How to find/change password for WiFi?

  • To be honest, I don't know anything about internet connections and whatnot. My desktop computer has high speed cable internet & is connected to an ethernet cable. It has what I think is a WiFi router on top of the modem. I just got a new laptop and when it searches for WiFi, it says the router shows up (its name is my last name). Only problem is it's password protected and my parents can't remember what it is...This is the first laptop any of us have had, so we've never really used WiFi at our house before. My question is, how can I find out what the password is, or ideally, how can I change the password?

  • Answer:

Download the user manual of the router if you don't have it. You need all the relevant information before attempting to connect and figure it. Reset the router to factory defaults. If you don't know, read the manual.
