URL and web address are the same thing. answers.yahoo.com is both an address and a URL. A properly formatted URL will have 'http://' (or one of several other possiblities) on the front of the address.

They overlap significantly, but they are not exactly the same. A URL is a specific format used to locate resources on the Internet. They can be web servers (if they start with 'http://' or 'https://'), but they don't have to be. "mailto:[email protected]" is a URL but not a web address. A web address is the address of a web server or page, but it can be in any format. "www.microsoft.com" is a web address, but it is not an URL. "http://www.yahoo.com" is both an URL and a web address.
