How to connect windows 2000 desktop to xp laptop?

i have laptop hooked up to wireless internet via 2wire wireless box with xp desktop, but i need to hook up a windows 2000 desktop to the wireless laptop since the two desktops are away from eachother is this possible, and if not how do i download files onto 2000 desktop from the laptop.?

Answer:
WiFi operates with Access Points and Stations. The 2wire is an Access Point; the laptop is a Station. You may have to run special software in the laptop to make it act as an Access Point. Hawking makes a USB device that can be either but not both at once. Such a unit would give you two WiFi devices on your laptop at once. Then you might be able to use it to relay the connection. Or possibly, just connect the USB device to the Windows 2000 machine and see if it finds the other two. If both machines have an RJ-45 NIC jack, you could buy a CROSSOVER CABLE and use My Network Places in Windows Explorer.
