Need advice on purchasing, setting up and maintaining a server?

The server will host a Web Based application developed in Flex. Users can go to a browser which has Flash installed, access our application, see, add, remove their records and save it. It will store large amounts of data, though this can be backed up on a external storage regularly. Main requirement is speed(quick response time), minimum down time, scalability, throughput. I was given the below quote by HP(www.hp.com) folks Quad Core Intel Xeon processor L5410(2.33GHz, 1333MHz FSB, 50W) Processor 2nd processor Quad Core Intel Xeon processor L5410(2.33GHz, 1333MHz FSB, 50W) Processor Memory 16GB fully buffered DIMM PC2-5300 4X4GB Memory Storage Controller HP Smart Array E200i/128 controller 4 hard drives each of 146GB, Hot Plug, 10K rpm RAID setting RAID 5 drive set Network card 2 Embedded NC373I Multifunction Gigabit Network Adapters Power Supply HP 1u Server 700w Hot Plug Power Supply Redundant Power Supply HP 1u Server 700w Hot Plug Power Supply Redundant fan options Storage Controller Upgrade HP 128MB BBWC Server Management- Integrated Lights Out Warranty 3 years Parts and on site labor, next business day The price was around 4.5K US$. My budget is about that only. Can someone please advise if this configuration would be allright for an application I plan to host? Are there any other options I have missed? Can I get a better quote from Dell, IBM or some other vendor? Should I get a hardware or software firewall or both? The server will house an application which will be accessed by 250-300 end users. So, will I need that many Client Access Licenses using Datacenter Windows Server 2008 OS ? I believe we should not as the server is just hosting an application and the end users have their own machines to their regular work and access the server for the application only. I don't want to channel the end users who will be accessing the application through VPN as they prefer to get authenticated going to a URL and then accessing their information just like Yahoo Mail. What are the things I need to be aware of for setting up and maintaining a server. I have not done one before. Can someone please advise? I am going through the server tutorials on the web for setting up and maintaining it? Thanks

Answer:
Well , there is hostgator , google host yahoo and godaddy. But the most recommended and best web host so far is www.NetworkJuiceHosting.com ; Network Juice. They now offer plans starting around $0.99/mo for a great amount of diskspace plus everything else unlimited. Plus they've manage to keep up 99% Uptime. They have all features such as PHP5, java ,Cpanel , Fantastico ( allows you to auto install Blogging systems and CMS portals without wasting time) , Cron Job , Apache ,Unlimited Dadabase , ftp accounts and much more. Basically EVERYTHING! is supported. There are other affordable plans as well in NetworkJuiceHosting.com. Hostgator.com is also a great host , but there Uptime time is not so good. Also , customer service is very poor , Not to many features are supported. Google.com not so sure , But i know there's lots of files they do not support , no Cpanel , and i don't know how come , but they have been receiving downtimes lately in their host servers. yahoo , let me just say it's the worst web host ever ,you can't even host the amount of domains you want to host . Including FatCow.com. The downtime is way to much , and many files are un-compatible in fatcow for some reason. To buy a domain , the most recommended site is godaddy for only $10.00 a year. , but not for it's hosting!! I Tell you !!!. For a Great Affordable web host with maximum features , the most recommended web host is www.NetworkJuiceHosting.com . ; Network Juice Hosting. You are getting your answers from an expert , and yes I have tried all these web host. That's all I got to say mate ;)
