FIRST: Like many people said, go to start -> run -> type DXDIAG, and then click on the DISPLAY tab. SECOND (important): If what you want to know is if your pc will run the game, go to: http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/srtest/ Select "The Sims 3" from the drop down list and click "can you run it". The site will analyze your pc and tell you if it will run the game. It will also tell you everything you need to know about your video card, not just the name of it. I do this everytime I plan to buy a new game, works great. Good Luck Angela.

Let system requirements lab scan your system to check it's ability to play The Sims 3. It will list all of your systems components needed to play the game and rate their ability to play it. http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/srtest/
