Shaking image on monitor caused by video card?
-
I have an old GeForce4 video card that I think needs to be replaced because the image that is output onto my monitor shakes slightly in the corners. At first, I thought it was the monitor's problem, but I tried another monitor and the problem was the same. I made sure that the monitor was plugged snugly into the video card output. Can this problem be fixed, or do I have to replace my video card?

Answer:
Might want to check your refresh rates as well. Control Panel > Display > Settings > Advanced > Monitor. Raise the refresh rate a little and see if that helps. If you still have the monitor's manual, look through it and make sure you use a refresh rate that's safe for the monitor. The wrong refresh rate CAN damage it. (Although I've never seen it happen.)

try this 1st: go to control panel/system/hardware tab/device manager/ scroll down to displayadapters click on the + sign to open/right click on the video card and choose updat drivers. now after this is done see idfit is still shaking. if it is: open the left panel on the side of your tower after you power it off/and physically remove the card and plug it back in again/restart and a balloon will appear sying new hardware found click on it and reinstall the drivers. now check the screen again and see if it is still shaky if it is then the video card is toast and needs replaced.

This could be caused by an external factor. Are there any magnets or other strong electronic devices nearby? Sounds like it might be electrical interference. I'm assuming the drivers are up-to-date?
