How do I fix the graphics on my laptop?

How can I fix my ATI Radeon graphics card?

  • I recently encountered a problem on my HP Pavilion dv6 laptop. When I turned it on everything was larger, EVERYTHING! My resolution went from 1366x768 to 1024x768. My Bumptop program would not start, my power save function no longer included a 'sleep' or hibernate mode, my video player would not work and each time I would restart I got several erreor messages about my ATI Radeon HD 4200 graphics card driver. I uninstalled, reinstalled, updated the graphics driver, updated my BIOS, and still nothing works! Eventually HP support said I would need to return to factory default and I really do not want to, could anyone help me out here? Is there anything else I can do to fix it???

  • Answer:

IF you are downloading drivers from HP, may want to download from AMD [ATI] I had to had a problem with drivers, worked for me, also never let the system download and install VGA drivers, download and install yourself works a lot better for some reason. Good luck.
