How do you get your own TV show?

How can I get my iMac to show Front Row on my TV screen?

  • I've got one of the latest iMac's and it's hooked up to my TV through a DVI connection. The connection is good but I can only get my TV screen to function as an extended desktop or a mirrored screen (in which case the resolutions are all messed up on one of the screens). I want Front Row to show up on my TV instead of my Mac but it won't. Even if I run VLC Player on the TV screen, it "jumps" back to my iMac screen the second I go to fullscreen-view. I know Apple has done this on purpose because they want me to buy an Apple TV but I think that's a load of crap! How can I get around this problem?

The answer is yes you can and I think you need an HDMI cable. Discussed and answered here http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=278422

one idea is to use a different connection. Settings of course check over and try any configuration. I dont have this set up personally but just what i would do.
