Will DVI-I work in a DVI-D port?

Sata port 3 wont work?

  • this is from my bios but what ever is plug in to sata port 3 wont work but sata ports 1,2,4 all work but not port 3 doesnt matter the way things are plugged in! sata port 3 will not work! How can i fix this prolbem i dont have warrenty left on my mother board the mother bord is a 2006 or 2007 model my mother board is ASUS M2R32-MVP are there jumper configuration i can set up internally? last time the port work i believe was about 4-6 months ago, arnt the time the port quit working i have flash my bios earth before or after, i flashed my bios in hope of fixing anther prolbem, with is everytime windows would restart the USB controller configuration, would freeze at ASUS M2R32-MVP logo screen the screen you see before anything, keyboard, Nothing would work except hoping down the power for 5 sec the motherboard had a power surge caused by a videocard, in morning when work after that night white lines where on my screen and the video card fan would not work(also had powersupply replaced in august to a OCZ 850Watt GameXtream surge happend with same power supply but was brought in for warrent a year and half after the prolbems took place), when computer experts where testing my computer, i had to tell them to try a diffrent power supply in it, once that happend system booted up faster, the reason i got my system checked out was because windows vista had whiteline across the screen caused by hardware or power issues(kinda bad when i have to tell techs what to do...) extreemly slow burn speeds burner will burn at 1-6X in windows slower/faster but somewhere in that rainge in linux burn speed will reach over 10X but nothing more, computer will not freeze at ASUS M2R32-MVP screen when restarting the computer from linux but can not burn opensuse 11.2 in linux(burnt 7 DVD's and all error's on them) with 2 diffrent burning programs! can some one please help me with this would like bios FIX but doubt that is possible! i only ask problems about computers that experts seem to have a hard time answering Look about the spelling if its total ****! im sorry! Thank you for taking your time with reading my prolbem -Trevor J. Punt

  • Answer:

If your SATA port will not work in Linux, It is definitely a hardware issue, as Linux uses HAL, and not BIOS to control configuration. A power surge is BAD. Those burn speeds are unacceptable under either OS. Your host controller is damaged. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but its time to visit newegg.com, and get a new mobo! Cheers! Marv
