How can I fix my Recovery (D:) Drive. It will not create a backup file because it is full.?

Operating system- Vista. My Recovery drive (D:) will not create a backup file because it is full. When it does create a backup file, it always fails because there is not enough room on my Recovery Drive.

that recovery partition is only to be used for the recovery software that came with your computer, this is used to reformat your Local Disk C: in the event something bad happens to it, or if you want to restore it. Save your back-ups else where, like to a disk, for example
