Why doesnt my computer play dvds when it used to?

  • my computer was recently wiped clean cos it was running badley and before it was done my dvd used to work now it doesnt and dont no waht to do to fix problem

  • Answer:

When you "wiped clean" your P,C,. you also removed the program which contained the necessary codecs to play a DVD - try downloading this - it is free (a one-stop codec pack) http://sourceforge.net/projects/gordianknot

If your computer was wiped clean than perhaps you need to update the dvd drives "driver" or it could just be the case that you do not have a media player installed that would handle a dvd. Take a quick search in the program files on your C: Drive for any program that looks right, like WinDVD or something.
