How do wireless computer speakers work?

How can I get the Speakers on my Computer to work?

  • The speakers on my computer haven't been working for a while now. I don't want to spend money on a computer guy in case you might be able to help me. When I turn the switch on the speaker so the speakers can turn on (this dial also controls the volume), a green light appears as usual. The green light I think means the speakers are on. But nothing happens when I play something that requires sound. No sound comes out of the speakers. Can you please help me??

  • Answer:

The wire that plugs into your computer probably has a light green jack. This plugs into the light green speaker outlet on your computer. If this is in the right place, let's move on. You see a tiny yellow speaker on the Task Bar near the CLOCK. Click once to see that this volume is up high and not in MUTE. Maybe I am guessing, but maybe the Sound Card driver is not properly installed. If you have that disk, try it. If you can't find that disk, let's first take a look at your Control Panel. Open the SYSTEM section and take a look at the Hardware section. Click on Device Manager. If the Sound section shows a yellow flag, then the driver is not installed, and you will have to get that software from somewhere. If you have a motherboard, where the sound is built-in, then get into the BIOS to see if SOUND is enabled. If it isn't, then make it enabled. Oh, did you test those speakers on some other device? Do they really work? Do you have headphones or speakers that you can try in your computer? If it still does not work, you might need a new sound card. For systems that have sound built-in, you need to go into the BIOS settings to disable it. Then install a new sound card. Ahh, this happened to me the other week, so I would love to get you out of this havoc. =] First, I would check to make sure your speakers are plugged into the correct port. (Green port on a PC, not sure on Macs) Second, I would make sure your sound drivers are up to date. You can update them from the Device Manager I believe, but if not, you can go to the manufacturers site. If neither of those things help you, you should figure out which card in your computer is the sound card, and disconnect it while your computer is off. Turn the computer on with the sound card out, and let it completely boot up. After everything is loaded, turn the computer off, and reconnect the sound card. The computer should recognize it than. The third option is what I had to do with my sound card. It was a hassle, but I hope I helped you get out of this situation, because I knew first-hand how bad it was. =]
