How to fix my bad pool header error?

Verifying DMI Pool Data....... A disk read error occurred?

  • I recive the message Veryfying DMI Pool Data....... A disk read error occurred. How can I fix this? I have no floppy disks or any blanks disks, and I know my PC can be fixed because I had gotten it fixxed from this same type of thing a few weeks by. I am a newbie to Yahoo Answer so I would apreciate it if I got an answer soon. *Plus I have a report due this Thursday and I would like to have it typed and not hand written.*

  • Answer:

This could be a couple of things, you could need a new hard drive or you could need a BIOS update. I suggest asking around for help with either if you don't feel comfortable doing it your self. Here's a few things to check: - Check for BIOS updates. - Try swapping IDE cables. - Use explicit master / slave jumper settings rather than cable select. - Use a SP2 build of the WinXP CD. - Fiddle with BIOS settings / disk utilities (read thread for details)
