What is a "Category Manager?

Device manager missing category "DVD/CD-ROM drives" cd rom won't read cds.... HELP?

  • The issue... Every time I put in a cd and go to my computer NOTHING show up. My cd rom won't run cds anymore!!! HELP I have been trying to solve this issue for about 3 days now and have basically tried everrything in the book. When today I noticed that if I go into the "device manager" there is no section for "DVD/CD-ROM drives." Anyone know how I can fix this and get my cd rom reading cds again?

  • Answer:

could be the fact that your computer hard drive isn't reading the ROM. you should open up your computer unhook the drive and plug it back in, then turn on your computer and let it boot up and see if it reads it then. if not i would take it to a computer store or maybe a friend that is good with computers and he could tell you why. or just call a couple computer places... even radio shack or circuit city as it is now known is a good choice. and its free to ask

Either your driver has become corrupt or the drive itself has died.
