Where can learn more about getting more CPU?
-
Right now I can max my CPU rather easily with the amount of MMO's I play (up to 9 game client's at once). I want to be able to have a few more than that, I particularly want to be able to run more virtual machines on my computer without maxing out my CPU so easily. I'll just come out and say I bot the MMO's I play, and I honestly don't care what anyone thinks about that. So I need more virtual machines to have my bots work faster and more efficiently. I've thought long and hard about overclocking my system, but I'd rather not risk burning my current processor up. What are things I should look for in a processor? What makes some processors better than others? If there is just an easy to understand guide just copy and paste the link and I'll be happy. I've tried to search everything to do with a processor to learn more about it, but it is all websites trying to sell it without explaining it. I know wiki could tell me something, but then again, I could go to wiki and make a bunch of crap up and put it on the "processor" page.

Answer:
Since your upgrading anyway, you might aswell give overclocking a try, what have you got to lose? Also it's almost impossible to fry a CPU, they have thermal protection which shuts them off when they reach a certain temperature. **Okay well thats a brand name PC but that motherboard is AM3 compatible. You TECHNICALLY should be able to put in the AM3 Phenom II X6's. These are hexacore and would be great for multitasking and running multiple clients as you do. Here are the two id recommend. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103849 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819106008 There is a possibility that because this is a brand name board which is stripped down in functionality, it might not support the X6's. In which case you would need to get a new AM3 motherboard and install it, but the good thing about AMD is the motherboards and CPU's are cheap. Im assuming you have a HP or Compaq or something, can you give me the model number of the computer?
