What do registry cleaners actually do?

Do registry cleaners applications actually work?

  • Despite upgrading my processor and ram my pc is grounding to a halt. I've already deleted unnecessary files, removed unwanted programs, scanned the disk for errors, defragged, etc... No joy! I've heard mixed opinions about registry cleaner apps, can anyone tell me if they acually work, e.g. make my pc boot up faster and run quicker? if so which one do you reccommend?

yeah reg cleaners dont really do anything you couldn't do, delete cookies temp files... stuff like that "make my pc boot up faster and run quicker?" yeah i guess so so does upgrading ur computer..

They usually don't help and many times even cause serious problems. Never download a "repair" or "cleaner". Do a disk clean and check both repiar boxes when the option appears. Do a regular defrag, then go to the site below for a detailed RAM setting that is already in your computer, it is free and common sense information.

If you did defrag your registry it probably would not cause your PC to run dramatically faster. The point about registry cleaners is that they fix errors which means your PC has less chance of crashing or causing application hang. CCleaner has a registry fixer - it is an option called ISSUES. It makes a backup of Keys and Values it is about to delete so that you can restore the file if things go wrong. That makes it one of the better registry 'fixers' because some of them to not make it is to restore if things go wrong.
